Outreach Efforts

Effective community development work is a long-term process that takes a lot of work and community resources. Our community development work embodies our efforts to address social, economic and justice issues in Al Ritchie. Through this work we are able to better identify, build on and promote our community's strengths. A large part of how we are able to achieve this is through our Outreach Program.  Our community Outreach worker is responsible to create and maintain meaningful relationships with community members.

Recreation Programs (September – March )

The ARCA works diligently to offer a variety of community based programs for its members.  Classes vary, but have included boxercise, arnis, computer training, babysitting course, children's dance, and musical theatre.  The
association is always looking for members to teach these programs.  A current list of programs can be found in the City of Regina Leisure Guide.

Summer Jam Program (July- August, Mon- Fri )

This program kicks off with a family bbq hosted on the lawn in front of Cochrane High School

This summer recreation and education program is offered at no cost, five days/week (Monday to Friday) in Al Ritchie east. This program offers a safe, educational and healthy alternatives for children to turn to during the summer months.

Community Gardens (May- September)

The ARCA has offered 24 community garden plots for the past ten years. They are located in Al Ritchie East near Cornwall School, and in Al Ritchie West near St. Augustine School. Plots cost $40.00, with $15.00 being refundable at season’s end. A Community Garden Committee oversees the management and maintenance of the garden and works closely with our Outreach worker as well. With the hard work from our committed gardeners, and with a little help from the City of Regina (especially the Parks and Maintenance Department) the gardens are looking better every year!

Other services and programs are offered throughout the year including food bank referrals, Good Food Box orders and parenting resource classes.

Silver Threads Program

The Silver Threads Seniors Program is funded through the New Horizons Through Seniors.  These dollars allow our Association to offer various classes, workshops and events geared to our senior population. Some of the programs include, a seniors luncheon, walking club, crafter's corner, matinee and movie afternoons, "Silver Thumbs" Gardening Group, Wii Fit, and Coffee Row.
