David Mitchell of Moose Jaw will play in the 1st game of the Junior Men's Field World Championships as Canada takes on England on Thursday, June 26, 2003. The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association wishes David and the entire Canadian team the best of luck in trying to win a Gold medal! The following website is as close to a tournament website as the SLA office could find http://www.uslacrosse.org/news/u19championships03.phtml We will also endeavour to keep this web page up to date with results if the US Lacrosse web site fails to do so. 2002 Junior Men's Field Provincials - Attack All-star Award David was one of four Saskatchewan lacrosse players selected to attend the final selection camp in Toronto, Ontario during the thanksgiving weekend consisting of 60 athletes from throughout Canada. David was the only player from the prairie provinces to crack the roster, which will be participating in the 2003 Junior Mens Field Lacrosse World Championships in Baltimore, USA in July 2003. Quote from Team Canada General Manager Terry Lloyd "David played well all weekend especially coming from behind the net. He was able to go both hands something we all have a problem with. He was one of the first 15 selected by all the coaches. " David started playing box lacrosse in Moose Jaw at the age of 10 and immediately developed a passion for the game. David has spent countless hours playing with his lacrosse stick throughout the year, which has helped him develop some of the best stick skills in the country. Davids strong point is his ability to use both hands effectively, which makes him an offensive threat regardless of his position on the floor or field. David played for the Moose Jaw Mustangs Junior Box Team and Junior Field club teams the past spring helping them to a Junior Box Provincial Championship and a junior field provincial silver medal. David has also been an integral part of the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association Junior Field Provincial Teams actually being on the (19 &under) team since he was 15 years old. David was the leading scorer of the 2002 Junior Mens Field National Championships with 25 goals and 4 assists in six games in helping lead Saskatchewan to its first ever National Title in this age division.
