Provincial Championships
The provincial championship policies are included from pages 27-40 in the SLA Policy
Handbook January 2005, which you should have previously received.
The major highlights are:
- Entry Deadlines & Performance Bonds

date, teams will not be eligible for Provincial Competition.

provincial championship must submit their intent to participate form and the performance

competition.
i) All mens field applications must include a $100 performance
bond per team.
ii) All team must submit a $200 entry fee in addition to the
performance bond. The entry fee must be paid by the roster deadline.

provincial championship must submit their intent to participate form and the performance
bond to the SLA office the by June 1st.
i)

competition the association must submit the complete roster no later than (14) fourteen
days prior to the date of competition and send with application as noted in 5.01.3.
b) Box Lacrosse - For each team entering a Provincial Championship competition, the
association must submit the complete roster no later than ten (10) days prior
to the date of the competition.
3) Player Eligibility
a) Mens Field Sector - The Mens
Field Sector does not allow player transfers between associations. However, each
association may select their provincial championship team(s) as per their own preference.
b)
Box Lacrosse
The maximum number of new players added and/or registered onto a club team prior to the
existing ten (10) day deadline shall be three (3) for Zones 2(Regina)
& 5(Saskatoon) and five (5) for Zones 1, 3, 4, 6 & 7 if the representative has
fourteen (14) or less players on the roster as submitted to the
SLA. Each zone representative team may pick-up a goaltender, which will not be
included toward the number of picked up
players and this goalie may not participate in any other playing capacity with the team.
However, 1st and 2nd year associations are exempt from this policy
and may send an all-star team for each age division.
- Each player must be registered with the SLA by the registration deadlines.
- Transfers are only required for players not in the same club/association.
- In accordance with 5.01.1 6., no overage players are allowed to participate in any age
group of provincial championships. However, younger players may be affiliated with a team
as long as they are placed on the roster prior to the deadline indicated in 5.01.4 and
meet the condition of 5.01.5 b) i).
4) Eight (8) Team Format
All age divisions of provincials will be limited to an eight- (8) team provincial
championship tournament format; therefore, provincial playdowns may be required in some
instances. The team eligibility format is significantly different for box and mens
field lacrosse, therefore, please refer to pages 37-40 of the policy handbook to review
this important information.
5) Coaching Certification
Please be reminded all teams are required to have at least one individual as a Level 1
fully certified coach (Technical + Practical + Theory) of the NCCP or the appropriate
minimum standard of the new CBET coaching system in that specific sector on the bench for
the provincial championships.
