Will there be tryouts held?

Our coaches have years of experience and knowledge; and know what type of players they wish to have on their teams, tryouts are not always warranted. Some teams in our program will have full tryouts, tryouts for available positions or no tryouts at all.

It is the decision of each of the coaching staff members who make up that particular team, whether or not they will have or not have tryouts. To be included as a team member without tryouts ensures a commitment from the team to you and visa versa. When a player commits, the parent will be required to "lock in" to the Thrashers with a financial commitment of $200.
 

In order to participate in our tryouts, a player will be personally scouted and invited or they will be recommended by a coach or current Thrasher member as someone that should be included in our program. In keeping with the mission of the Northwest Thrashers, players that have not been scouted may apply to attend tryouts. A member of the coaching staff  from the team he wishes to attend tryouts will evaluate his/her application and reply prior to the tryout date
 

How long is the season?

Our season will run from approximately mid April to early July.

How often will we practice?

Our schedule has us practicing approximately 15 hours over the course of the season.  This may vary from team to team depending on the age group. It is also may be subject to change based on ice availability. Individual teams may practice more often with parent group approval.

Is this team being run as a non-profit team?

The Northwest Thrashers organization run their individual teams as non-profit teams with the remaining balance of funds to be disbursed back to the eligible parties at year end. Any funds that are retained by the organization will be used  to offset or fund such things as out of season camps, mailing, advertising etc. This will cover the costs that may be incurred  providing these events or activities. 

Will I get to keep my Jersey's?

Yes the Jersey's and socks are the property of the individuals that have purchased them.

How many tournaments will we attend?

Northwest Thrashers teams usually attend 2-3 tournaments each year. They commence on or about May long weekend and end on July long weekend. More information will be available closer to the beginning of the summer hockey season.
