Polio Regina Guest Speaker Guidelines

Thank you for agreeing to serve as a “guest speaker” for an upcoming Polio Regina meeting. We appreciate the time you have committed to present this session and all the preparation that it entails.

Our monthly meeting is held at the WRC Hostel Rooms (room H203) of the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, 2180 23rd Ave, Regina. The business portion of the meeting begins at 3:30pm, with the guest speaker generally being introduced at about 4:00pm. About 30-45 minutes of presentation, and ten or fifteen minutes for Q&A are the norm.

To help you prepare your presentation, here are a few guidelines/tips:

1. There are typically 20-30 members and guests in attendance.

2. Presentations should be non-political and non-sectarian unless you have been invited specifically for that purpose, i.e. candidate debate.

3. Presentations should not promote a specific business or its services, and presenters may not solicit a financial or in-kind donation or request purchase of products or services. It is okay for you to talk about your business/organization and its services. It is NOT okay to make a “sales pitch” or directly solicit purchases or donations. Indicators of “sales pitches” would be excessive use of brand names, product names or logos, failure to substantiate performance claims and failure to objectively discuss alternative methods, processes and equipment. You are more than welcome to invite interested members to stay after the meeting to talk with you.

4. We do not allow presenters to collect information on members present.

5. Handouts for club members are welcome.

6. Polio Regina does not have audio-visual technology of its own. WBC has overhead projectors and some other AV equipment. Please let us know if you have specific needs.

If you have any questions, please contact the Polio Regina member who invited you or our program coordinator.

Thank you. We look forward to your presentation.
