RAMED Advertising Policy

June 20, 2005

This policy provides guidelines for advertisements in the Regina Association of Middle Eastern Dance (RAMED) newsletter, voice mail and email accounts.

I.       Content

·        RAMED accepts newsletter, voicemail and email advertisements about events, merchandise and special offers relating to belly dancing.

·        Advertisements relating to events, merchandise, and special offers that are not directly related to belly dancing are accepted at the discretion of the Newsletter Editor. The Newsletter Editor may choose to consult with the RAMED board about the suitability of an advertisement.

·        Advertisements that are not directly related to belly dancing or closely related dance events (such as flamenco or workshops on body alignment) will not normally be sent through the RAMED voice mail or email accounts.

·        RAMED reserves the right to refuse any advertisement containing vulgar or abusive language or illegal subject matter, or which the Newsletter Editor or board consider to be slanderous or libellous.

·        RAMED reserves the right to refuse any advertisement that discriminates against individuals or groups on the basis of age, ancestry, colour, race, nationality, place of origin, family status, marital status, mental or physical disability, receipt of public assistance, religion, creed, sex, or sexual orientation.

·        At the discretion of the Newsletter Editor, the RAMED email account administrator, the voice mail administrator, and/or the RAMED board, free public service announcements may be provided through the newsletter, voicemail or email accounts at no charge.  Announcements should be brief.

II.    Advertising Rates

·        Enhanced members are entitled to ¼ page listing per RAMED newsletter and one RAMED website page.  Only enhanced members are entitled to these benefits.  For each portion of a page over this ¼ page size, the enhanced member will pay an additional $10.

·        Regular members and associate members may advertise in the RAMED newsletter at a rate of $10 per ¼ page.  People and organizations who do not hold RAMED memberships may advertise for $25 per ¼ page.

·        There are no refunds on advertising.  Instead, credit will be given toward a future ad.

III.  Design Considerations

·        All newsletter advertisements should be submitted to the newsletter in a camera-ready format (gray scale and at the same size as it is to be printed).  Do not send the newsletter advertisement in colour because we print the newsletter in black and white.

·        Please send the advertisement as a JPEG or MS Word Document File.  If the file is submitted in an alternate file format the Newsletter Editor reserves the right to refuse or reformat the ad.

·        The Newsletter Editor reserves the right to refuse or reformat an ad that is not in proper format or requires other adjustment.  You will be consulted to approve any changes to your ad prior to the release of the newsletter.  At the discretion of the Newsletter Editor, a $10 fee will be charged for formatting an ad.

·        RAMED cannot guarantee the final printed results of an advertisement.

·        Information for voice mails or emails must be submitted to the voice mail and email account administrators.  The information should be brief, relevant and to the point.

·        The voice mail and email account administrators reserve the right to edit submissions for length.

IV.   Deadlines and Other Considerations

·        The Newsletter Editor sets the deadline for newsletter submissions.  Advertisements received after the deadline will not be accepted for that issue.

·        The voice mail and email administrators have the authority to determine when voice mails and emails will be sent.  While every effort will be made to send the information promptly, RAMED attempts to limit the number of these messages sent every month, so the voice mail and email account administrators may choose to wait up to one month before sending a message out.
