Glass case/(if eye glass wearer and cleaning cloth)

Mess Kit/a mug preferably with a lid, bowl, plate, spoon, fork, knife, dishcloth and tea towel in a mesh bag

                (all dishes should be non-breakable)

Canteen/water bottle/(to be carried in the Day Pack)

Day pack/(for carrying water bottle, extra clothing, snacks etc. around during the day

                  as often the youth will not return to their campsite for many hours at a time)     

Flashlight/(with an extra set of batteries)

Pocket Knife/(Scouts/Venturers only)

Compass/(optional for younger youth)

Sleeping Gear/(pillow, sleeping bag w/liner?, for cold weather camping an extra sleeping bag or heavy blanket,

                          a sleeping mat or air mattress – all done up in a waterproof bag or sack)

 

Emergency Kit/ to be carried in the Day Pack  (see youth’s Cub or Scout book for instructions

                         on how to put this together, please do not include matches or a knife for Cubs or Beavers)

Small Personal First Aid Kit/to be carried in the Day Pack (again see youth’s Cub or Scout book for instructions)

 

NOTES

ü        Clothing should be put in a duffel bag or backpack, and the bag should be lined with a garbage bag to keep items dry.

ü        Remember youth should be involved in packing the gear with varying amounts of assistance by parents depending on the youth’s age.  Even older youth can use some guidance in packing enough warm clothes.

ü        Make sure when they come back from camp that everything they packed has come back (to help with this clearly mark all items with the youth’s name)

ü        REMEMBER TO PACK ENOUGH WARM CLOTHES AND BRING ENOUGH FOR CHANGES BECAUSE OF WET CLOTHES ETC.

ü        Optional items such as books, field guides, cameras and binoculars are allowed

ü        NO ELECTRONIC GAMES, WALKMANS, PERSONAL CD PLAYERS ETC.  WILL BE BROUGHT TO CAMP
