Arcola Community School

We are presently serving a universal snack to 330 students at Arcola School each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  These snacks are prepared at Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre by one of our three part time cooks.  She, along with several community volunteers prepare almost 1000 snacks served weekly.  32,516 snacks were served in 2008.

Balfour Collegiate Milk

We are currently distributing approximately 20 portions of milk daily to a breakfast program that has been set up at Balfour Collegiate.  This has been a pilot project, which started in October 2008.  760 portions of milk were served in 2008.

Balfour Tutorial

We provide lunches for 50 girls each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  The menus are done up by Food for Learning but the students do the actual food preparation for their own program.  The Balfour Tutorial students are pregnant and parenting teens continuing their high school education.  We are very proud of this program because the girls not only get the much needed nutrition, but also the experience of preparing nutritious lunches.  We also purchase extra milk so that some students will be able to take 2 litres home on Fridays for their babies.  4,800 lunches were served in 2008.

Judge Bryant School

We provide 15 snacks daily to students in this location. The menus and food are picked up by school staff who oversee the preparation and distribution of the snacks.  2,670 snacks were served in 2008.

Cochrane High School (Support Class)

Daily snacks are provided for 20 students.  The menus and groceries are picked up by school staff who oversee the food preparation.  We began 2008 by providing 120 lunches then switched to a snack program.  In 2008 we provided 2,865 snacks.

Coronation Park Community School

Daily lunches for about 6 students are prepared at Pasqua Neighbourhood Centre by a Food For Learning part time cook.  The lunches are picked up and served by school staff in the lunchrooms. 2,647 lunches were provided in 2008.

Dr. George Ferguson School

We provide a universal snack two days a week for Dr. George Ferguson students.  The food pick up and preparation is done by school staff.  We are feeding approximately 230 students each Wednesday and Thursday morning.  15,120 snacks were served in 2008.

Haultain Community School

We provide a universal snack program at Haultain School for pre-kindergarten through grade 8.  We are feeding approximately 100 students each school day morning.  The food preparation is done on site by a part time Regina Food For Learning cook.  20,367 snacks were served in 2008.

Ken Jenkins School

Daily lunches for about 30 Ken Jenkins’ students are prepared at Pasqua Neighbourhood Centre by the same Regina Food For Learning cook who does the lunches for Coronation Park School.  These lunches are picked up by school staff and served in the lunchrooms set up in the school.  Care is taken to keep the anonymity of the students receiving these or any other Food For Learning lunch.  6,712 lunches were served in 2008.

Victoria Campus

Starting in 2003 we began serving high school students in several different alternative programs.  There are now four programs that we service running out of this location.  They are Concord, Integrated Services Program #2, Vocational Alternative Programs #1 and #2.  Up to this point, because they came to us through different schools we have treated them as separate locations, but now as they are all housed at Victoria Campus and administered by Balfour Collegiate we are grouping them under Victoria Campus.  We are currently providing 24 lunches daily to Victoria Campus students.  4,409 lunches were served in 2008.
