Auto Theft in Regina
As you may have heard in the news lately that there has been a major problem with auto theft in Regina over the year. The Regina Police Service has reported that during Jan. to Aug. 2000 a total of 1783 autos were stolen. The cost last year topped 600 million dollars in Canada (making up about half of the cost of your insurance premiums). In addition to the emotional costs, wasted time, loss of property and the other associated crimes. You can reduce your odds of becoming a victim by using the following suggestions: 1) Lock your car at all times when
leaving it. Neighbourhood Watch at Work Auto Thief Caught: Earlier this year a member heard a car outside late at night. After looking out the member observed a person fleeing the scene. They then phoned the police giving them the information, later that night the police following up on the information, took a suspect in for questioning. Party in Park: After observing a drinking party in a city park late at night a member of the Neighbourhood Watch Patrol phoned the police. The police raided the party and charges were laid against the youth present. Note: It is illegal to be in a city park after 11 o'clock pm. Seasons Greetings from Your Neighbourhood Watch

BACK LIGHT ALLEY PROJECT
In an effort to make the back alleys safer for our community we would like to ask all household owners to do two things:
1) Please leave your lights during the evening, especially the lights at the back of your garage or house. This would make it easier to see possible trouble on your property and allow the police to check out problems quicker and safer.
2) Please place your street name and house number on the rear of your garage or back fence facing the alley, this will allow emergency personnel to report their position to the dispatch centre when there is a problem in your back alley.
National Identifiable Property Database TEST AREA PLANNED FOR TRI-COMMUNITY AREA:
In an effort to reduce the number of break and enters in our community we will be promoting the N.I.P.D. program in select areas during January 2001. This program will allow the police to check through the use of the Internet,
