IntroductionWelcome to the web page of Nature Regina,(originally the Regina Natural History Society). This page provides a central location for information about the Society's activities, meetings, and interests. Meetings are generally held on the third Monday of each month, beginnng at 7:30pm, except during the summer, and are open to the public. They are held at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, at Albert Street and College Avenue, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Members of the society are interested in a variety of topics. Natural History is a subject that involves many aspects of our outdoor environment, including plants, animals, landforms, climate, and cultural history. The Regina area has many interesting locations with excellent birding opportunities. The society is also active within the Regina environmental community, participating in a number of collaborative projects and frequently voicing concerns to local and provincial governments on environmental topics. The society also organizes field trips in and around Regina. These trips are usually held on the weekend, and are led by society members. There is no cost, although carpooling is recommended and it is polite to offer to share gas costs. Most field trips leave from the parking lot of the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. Members receive the Society's newsletter six times per year, containing information about the Society's activities as well as other environmental concerns and information. Nature Regina is a local affiliate of Nature Saskatchewan News and Links SectionWe've added a new page, which will contain news items and links suggested by members. If you have a link or news item you would like to see on this page, send an email using the "Webmaster" link below. For the moment, we have a couple of news items you'll find there:
Checklist of the Birds of A. E. Wilson ParkLong-time Nature Regina member Sandy Ayer moved to Calgary a few years ago, but when he lived in Regina he spent a lot of time in A.E. Wilson Park. Over many years, he maintained a list of birds he observed in the park, and he sent us a checklist based on his observations. In 2010, Brett Quiring has updated the list. To view the new list, which is now in Adobe PDF format, Click Here. You can also still access Sandy's original list, in HTML format.
