Training The sport of action shooting is very demanding and requires that we pay particular attention to safety. No new shooter will be allowed to compete in a sanction match until he/she has completed a rigorous training program. Provincially we have a number of nationally recognized instructors. Our training program consists, initially of a number of informal training sessions to train the new shooter to the point of being able to take the final program known as the "Black Badge". (Note: This does not replace the training required per Canadian Firearms Legislation.) The time required to take the initial program varies, depending on the shooter's familiarity with firearms and also on the shooter's willingness to learn. The final part of the training program consists of the "Black Badge" test. This is equivalent to a final exam. It consists of two parts:
After passing the exam the shooter will receive his "Black Badge" number, badge and a certificate from the IPSC Canada training office. The "Black Badge" is a
nationally certified program and ensures that each IPSC shooter in Canada is trained to a
specific minimum level. |
