Carmichael Outreach started as a free clothing boutique for women in a church gymnasium in the fall of 1988. Food bank and emergency food service soon became a part of that work and an after-school program for children followed.
After the closure of Carmichael Church (sponsors of the original projects) in June of 1995, Carmichael Outreach moved to 1602 - 12th Avenue. In 2001, the current location at 1925 Osler Street was purchased.
