Queen's Golden Jubilee Statue Project

Queen's Golden Jubilee Statue Project

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the Throne on February 6, 1952. Her Coronation took place on June 2, 1953.

The Saskatchewan Committee for the Queen's Golden Jubilee is proud to announce the Queen's Golden Jubilee Statue Project in celebration of this historic event.

Saskatchewan sculptor Susan Velder of St. Walburg has begun work on creating the 10% larger than life likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II riding her favorite horse, Burmese. The Queen will be wearing the uniform of the troop she was inspecting at the time.

The statue will be situated in the gardens in front of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. It is scheduled for unveiling in 2005.
