INSURANCE INFORMATION

The following is a summary of the coverage you receive as a member of the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association.

1) Commercial General Liability ($5,000,000) – This is designed to cover insurance needs relating to liability imposed by law for injuries or property damage to a third party.

Clarification: Insurance coverage for your group or association if it is sued for damages by a third party (i.e. non-participant at an event). An example of this would be if your group hires a company to erect a stand, the stand collapses, and your association is named in the negligence suit with the contractor.

2)    Participant’s Liability ($5,000,000) – This plan is designed to cover a situation where a person, while practicing, participating, or assisting in any sanctioned event, is injured and sues the association and where the association is found legally liable. This coverage also extends to individual members. An example of this coverage would be when a player slips on the box floor or steps in a gopher hole and breaks his/her leg (where the coach or referee or association is found liable), that person or group is covered for up to $5,000,000.

3)    Directors and Officers Liability ($5,000,000) – This coverage will protect your officers and directors in the event they are held liable for damages caused by error, mismanagement, negligent acts, misleading statements, omission, or any other wrongful act that results in loss to others. It does not cover fraudulent, illegal, or criminal acts.

Accident Insurance

The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association also provides its membership with an excess accident benefits policy, which means all other avenues of insurance must be exhausted before a claim should proceed. Following are some of the details of the Accident Insurance Coverage.

The coverage extends to registered players, managers, coaches, trainers, executives, general managers or officials if injured while participating in a practice session, game training camp, tournaments approved by and under the supervision of proper authority of the association (i.e. sanctioned by the SLA) or travelling directly to and from such practice sessions (two or more travelling together with a minimum distance of 100 km traveled).

Summary:

Principal Sum: $10,000

Dental Limit: $5,000

Fractures: $50-$500

The principal sum amount refers to the indemnity limit for accidental death, permanent loss and the blanket of accidental death, permanent loss and the blanket accident reimbursement.

Process for submitting a claim

An accident victim or the member association should notify the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association of any potential claims as soon as possible. The appropriate form can then be completed and should be sent to the SLA office. The office will confirm that all information has been included and will forward to the insurance provider.
