Regina Association of Middle
Eastern Dance (RAMED) is a non-profit organization established to promote
and increase public awareness and acceptance of Middle Eastern dance,
facilitate learning and performance opportunities, and organize and sponsor
Middle Eastern dance related events. We provide a members' newsletter and lending library, workshop bursarys, as well as a registry of qualified
instructors and a directory of performers.
Many of our professional members perform at public events
throughout the city, as well as at private engagements, and our students
eagerly welcome opportunities to perform at a variety of events.
Belly Dance classes and workshops are offered throughout the city of Regina. The
experience level of students range from "have no idea what I'm getting into" to seasoned
veterans who have danced for years. The classes cover basic belly dance
moves & technique, isolations, history, costuming, and offer a great
social activity for all. As experience increases students will begin to
incorporate props such as zills, candles, swords, canes, and veils into
their dancing.
Many Middle Eastern Dance workshops and training opportunities are offered
throughout Canada year round. RAMED sponsors members to attend many of
these workshops and encourages all of the members to attend.
Years of experience, wisdom, and love of the dance are shared by the workshop
facilitators. The workshops are not just for the polished performer but
are designed for all dancers to enjoy and, as any dancer who has
attended a workshop will agree, they are inspirational, energetic, and a
hip dropping good time!
Everyone dances for different reasons, curiosity, stress release, costumes,
exercise, dragged by a friend, but we hope all have a wonderful experience.
We try to invoke the dancer in everyone in a non-threatening atmosphere,
because there is a dancer inside us all! Please browse our website and
enjoy,
